How to Measure Yourself for the Perfect Shapewear Fit
Getting the right size makes all the difference — here's exactly how to measure up.
What You'll Need
A soft measuring tape and a mirror. Measure over bare skin or thin underwear for the most accurate results.
Key Measurements
Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button. Don't suck in!
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, usually about 20cm below your waist.
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the ground.
Thighs
For bike shorts or thigh shapers, measure around the fullest part of each thigh.
Tips for Accuracy
- Stand straight and breathe normally when measuring
- Keep the tape snug but not tight — you should be able to slip a finger underneath
- Measure twice to confirm
Sizing Up vs Sizing Down
If you're between sizes, size up for all-day comfort. Sizing down too aggressively can cause rolling, digging, and discomfort — and actually makes shapewear less effective.
